Mom, I will miss you dearly! I know you are now free from Parkinson's disease and flying high above us on the wings of the birds you loved to watch. You were the biggest influence in my life, I thank you for raising me to be the man I am today! I cherish the time we spent together birding, teaching me how to cook, traveling to foreign lands, listening to classical music- whether that was at home or going to see it live (even if you did have to elbow me from time to time to wake me up), always living life to the fullest! We had some great birding adventures, which sometimes turned into misadventures, getting the car stuck in places we should not have been driving in, getting locked out of the car while in the middle of the Sierra Nevada Mountains during the winter, almost running out of gas while in the mountains of Arizona, to getting snowed on while trying to find the elusive Flammulated Owl in New Mexico! We always managed to get out of those situations fine and laugh about them later. I will never forget the early morning you dropped me off at the Military Entrance Processing Station the day I headed to Air Force basic training, so early it seemed like we were the only ones on the streets. When you said goodbye to me, I knew you were sad but proud. Those are just a few of the memories I will always cherish.
I am so grateful I was able to say my goodbyes and look into your eyes one last time, I am at peace knowing you are no longer trapped in your body, held down by Parkinson’s disease.
I also thank everyone that was a part of my mom’s life, she had numerous friends that shared the same passions and sense of adventure. I also thank those that visited mom once her quality of life degraded, I know that meant the world to her!
Goodbye mom, fly free in that vast blue sky.
Your loving son, Jeremy.

I'm really sad that my mom is gone, but I know that she is free from her Parkinson's diseased body and is up in Heaven with everyone with whom she loved very much! She was the core of our family! Mom was one of the strongest human beings that I ever knew! She was such a beautiful person inside and out. Always treated strangers with kindness while teaching us kids to treat others the way that we wanted others to treat us. Mom had such a passion to keep active doing the things that she loved doing ("birding", painting, traveling...especially birding while traveling). I remember when she was still able to walk and drive that she would be out "birding" for HOURS! One time I specifically remember her being out in the woods behind the house that we lived in "birding" for eight hours. Even though I was a child I still remember worrying about my mom being out there for such a long time that I went and found her back on a trail "birding". She still wasn't ready to come home! Standing there with mom she pointed out where she spotted a nesting barred owl which was really neat to see! She found and documented many other birds that day. To this day all of us kids love our birds because of mom. I could keep writing on and on about mom and her adventures and passions! She never gave up! Mom, I love you and I'll miss you!!! Your daughter, Melissa

I have such fond memories of my neighbor, Mrs. Lawrence. I loved visiting the Lawrence house because it was an absolute hub of creativity. I was exposed to and learned so much through Mrs. Lawrence in her beautiful home. Homemade bread and baked goods, nature walks, observing wildlife, horseback riding, making art in the playroom, sledding in the woods; and everywhere, inside and out, there was classical music! I am so grateful to have known this artistic, intelligent, articulate, cultured lady and for the profound influence she had on my life. Kim Yates Clifford

When I think of Celia, I think of hiking behind the house(interesting story of an Emu), making French and rosemary bread(classical music in the background), sweeping the deck, making peanut butter concoction for the birds, putting clothes on the line, sledding in the backyard, scrabble, art, masterpiece theater, reading lazily on summer nights, and traveling to places I’d never been. My deepest condolences to you all, she will be missed.
All my love, Diana

Mom, thank you for all that you were to me. Thank you for instilling in me so many of your wonderful traits. Your Love of Animals, Your Love of people, your intelligence and love of the Arts, Your Love of life, your stength and your compassion. I am happy that you are no longer suffering, but I am sad for all of us that you have left behind. There is a huge hole in my life now that only you were able to fill. I love you my sweet beautiful mother!
